Because we have no class this Thursday, you should plan to email me your response paper (firstname.lastname@example.org) by this FRIDAY at 5 PM. This will give you a little extra time but also force you to finish your paper and move on to One Hundred Years of Solitude, which you should be well into by next Tuesday’s class.
For your response paper, elaborate on the passage you brought in for Tuesday or pick a new one through which you can answer one of the three discussion questions posed below. The paper should, as always, include a block quote near the beginning, which you closely analyze in the main part of your paper, connecting as needed to other parts of the text and to the historical and theoretical context.
Remember to look closely at the language of your passage, elaborating an argument by teasing out the implications of the particular rhetoric Domitila uses and the particular narrative she chooses to tell. Look at the sample response papers for guidance, and feel free to email me with questions.
